DarVida Coffee
OUR MISSION

What drives DarVida…

Dar Vida, a local Toledo charity organization, uses all the proceeds from their Colombian coffee sales to aid those in need in Colombia.

Jennifer and Henry Choconta, the owners of Dar Vida, have been providing help to Colombian people across different shelters and centers for years. Henry was born and raised in Colombia, which is why they have always felt the urge to help the Colombian people.

“We have always been involved in many different countries and different human efforts,” says Jennifer. “There was a lot of political unrest in Colombia, and farmers had to be relocated to the coffee belt region. We met a partnership there and went to several of their farms to meet them. It felt like it was an opportunity to love them.”

Since then, Henry and Jennifer have partnered with 37 female coffee farmers in the coffee belt of Colombia. Henry and Jennifer have also partnered with the Revive Retreat Center in Colombia, Hope of Life Shelter for the elderly, and a drug rehab shelter for men.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does DarVida do?

DarVida partners with Cafe Sello Mujer which is a committee of 35+ woman coffee farmers in Colombia. We purchase their green coffee at a fair price, and then roast it and package it with the DarVida label. Not only does this partnership help these women farmers financially, but this committee of women farmers provides business training for each woman farmer.

We sell DarVida coffee in the US and proceeds go back into Colombia to further support the coffee partnership with grants and the humanitarian efforts we support such as Hope of Life Elderly Shelter “Fundacion Casluhim” and the men’s drug rehab center “Redimidos por Su Nombre”.

How can I support DarVida charity efforts?

Purchasing our coffee is the easiest way to help DarVida and our charity efforts. Plus you get an amazing cup of coffee in the process.

Proceeds go back into Colombia to further support the coffee partnership with grants and the humanitarian efforts we support such as Hope of Life Elderly Shelter “Fundacion Casluhim” and the men’s drug rehab center “Redimidos por Su Nombre”.

What are some future goals for DarVida?

Relocate the  Drug Rehab Shelter to a  farm with a workshop where the residents can manufacture products for retail and thus learn working skills and provide funding for the shelter. Improve the current program and provide an income for the director.

Establish a women’s shelter for women that want to leave prostitution. Provide working and parenting skills, home management and counseling.
